Objective: The aim of this study was to present a structural model of addiction potential based on school ethical climate and moral intelligence with the mediating role of subjective vitality. Method: This study was a descriptive-correlational research of the structural equation modeling type. The statistical population consisted of all male senior high school students in Qom during the 2025–2026 academic year (N=16,324). Among them, 200 students were selected using cluster random sampling. The research instruments included the Inventory of Addiction Potential Scale by Weed et al. (1992), the Subjective Vitality Scale by Ryan and Frederick (1997), the Moral Intelligence Competency Inventory by Lennick and Kiel (2005), and the School Climate Scale by Schulte et al. (2002). Data were analyzed using SPSS-26 and AMOS-24 software. Findings: The findings indicated that the proposed model had a good fit. Moral intelligence (β=−0.24) and subjective vitality (β=−0.22) had significant negative effects on addiction potential, whereas school ethical climate (β=−0.07) did not show a significant effect. In addition, moral intelligence (β=0.49) had a significant positive effect on subjective vitality, while the effect of school ethical climate on subjective vitality (β=0.04) was not significant. Indirect effect analysis also showed that only moral intelligence had an indirect effect on addiction potential through the mediating role of subjective vitality. Conclusion: Overall, strengthening moral intelligence and enhancing subjective vitality may be effective in reducing students’ addiction potential. Therefore, it is recommended that school-based programs be implemented to develop moral intelligence, teach life skills, and promote students’ mental health.
