Abstract: (100 Views)
Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of psychological self-care training on cognitive flexibility and distress tolerance in male high school students with a high tendency toward addiction. Method: This was a quasi-experimental study utilizing a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The statistical population included all male second-period high school students in Harsin County during the academic year 2023-2024. A total of 30 students who had a high tendency toward addiction were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n =15) and the control group (n =15). Participants in the experimental group received psychological self-care training over 10 sessions of 90 minutes. The instruments used were the cognitive flexibility scale, the distress tolerance scale, and the addiction potential scale. The research data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. Results: The results indicated that psychological self-care training was effective in increasing the cognitive flexibility and distress tolerance of male second-period high school students. Conclusion: Psychological self-care training in male secondary schools can help enhance students' cognitive flexibility and distress tolerance, thereby reducing their likelihood of developing an addiction tendency.
