Objective: The self-healing approach helps individuals cope effectively with problems by strengthening their abilities, stress management skills, and communication skills. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of self-healing training as a new intervention on improving resiliency and tolerance of failure in people with substance abuse disorder under methadone maintenance treatment in Shahrood city. Method: The research method was a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test type with a control group. For this purpose, among the men with substance use disorder undergoing methadone maintenance treatment, 15 people were randomly assigned to the experimental group (self-healing training), and 15 people were assigned to the control group. Failure tolerance and resiliency scales were implemented as pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using univariate covariance analysis. Results: The results revealed that the scores of people in the post-test in the intervention group were significantly higher in the resiliency scale and significantly lower in the failure tolerance scale compared to the control group. Conclusion: It seems that self-healing training can be effective as one of the  new therapeutic interventions in increasing positive performance components in substance use disorder.
