Objective: The present research aimed to design an innovative and practical model for preventing the use of addictive substances in the workplace. Method: This was an applied research study based on the interpretive paradigm, employing a qualitative approach of grounded theory using the systematic approach of Corbin and Strauss. The statistical population included experts and selected workers active in the field of social harm and addiction prevention in the Parand industrial town of Tehran. The research sample, consisting of 30 individuals, was selected using a purposive sampling method, specifically snowball sampling, until theoretical data saturation was achieved. The data were collected using semi-structured interviews. Triangulation and external control were used to ensure the study's validity. Reliability was established after recording the participants' voices, taking detailed notes during the interviews, and conducting coding in three stages (open, axial, and selective). The codings were presented to a third party outside the research team; after receiving feedback and checking for consistency, the findings were approved with an agreement coefficient of 84%. Results: The causal, contextual, intervening, strategic, and consequential conditions of the phenomenon under study were extracted, and the core category of the research, titled "designing a creative model for substance use prevention in the workplace," was constructed from 5 selective codes, 17 axial codes, 75 open codes, and 1,027 open concepts. Conclusion: A creative model for establishing a healthy, substance-abuse-free workplace comprises five interconnected layers, including recognizing environment and causal factors, managerial and policy intervention, cultural and peer involvement, healthy lifestyle and wellness, and evaluation and feedback. Implementing this creative model achieves outcomes such as increased organizational productivity, reduced general costs, enhanced sustainable resources, increased collective well-being and success, and improved quality of work life for employees.
