Objective: The present study aimed to identify family-related facilitators of addiction treatment. Method: This was a qualitative, descriptive phenomenological study. The target population of the present study comprised all individuals with substance dependence who sought treatment at addiction treatment camps and centers in Sanandaj city in 2023. Using a purposive sampling method and theoretical saturation, a sample of 19 individuals was selected, and their lived experiences were collected through semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using the seven-step Colaizzi method. To ensure the accuracy of the study, the researchers utilized methods such as prolonged engagement and the review of findings by experts, participants, and peer researchers. Results: Four main themes were identified as family-related facilitators: Family-facilitating self-reflections (with sub-themes of concern about the disclosure of addiction in the family, feelings of guilt toward the family, fears about the family's future, and a sense of responsibility toward the family), family support (with sub-themes of motivational, financial, social status, and emotional support), flourishing family (with sub-themes of appropriate marital relationships and family bonds), and family participation in the treatment process (with sub-themes of direct and indirect participation). Conclusion: It is not realistic to expect an individual with addiction to manage their treatment process alone. The family plays an essential role in the recovery and continuation of addiction treatment by providing various forms of support, creating a safe and calm environment at home, and actively participating in the treatment process. The main and sub-themes of this research can clearly become practical goals for family interventions, which will help enhance readiness, increase support capacity, and strengthen the family's role in the treatment path.
