Abstract:   (860 Views)
Objective: The primary objective of this study was to identify the facilitating factors that contribute to the avoidance of high-risk behaviors among members of narcotics anonymous (NA). Method: This study employed a qualitative design based on a phenomenological approach. The study population consisted of all members of NA in Shahrekord. Utilizing snowball sampling and a maximum variation sampling strategy, 12 participants were selected. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi’s descriptive phenomenological method. Results: Data analysis revealed three overarching themes related to the facilitating factors for avoiding high-risk behaviors in NA members, including transcendence and constructiveness, care and adaptation, and deterrent fears. Within these major categories, nine sub-themes were identified. Conclusion: The findings indicate that the avoidance of high-risk behaviors among NA members is not driven by a few isolated factors but is rather a multidimensional process. Recognizing these diverse facilitating factors allows for the development of effective interventions aimed at preventing high-risk behaviors and reducing relapse rates among members of NA.
