Scientific Quarterly Research on Addiction etiadpajohi 2008-4307 2423-6535 10.61186/etiadpajohi 2004 2 6 Studying the factors in dependency to substances changing the mood and behavior and effective methods in drug addiction counseling Addicts to alcohol and other substances changing the mood and behavior attempt to stop their addiction and avoid its relapse because they suffer mental and physical problems, they are under the pressure of family members, employer and other individuals who influence over their life as well as negative effects of drug addiction on their performance in family, work and social relations. Since drug addicts experience physical pain when they are not using drugs, they refer, at first, to physicians and then to psychiatrists. Although emerging and applying non-medical and non-pharmaceutical approaches models is not too old, arising various addictive drugs and increasing the number of drug addicts as well as individual/social destructive consequences of drug addiction have caused that psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers to represent various non-pharmaceutical theories, models, methods and guidelines based on the conditions of their clients and their clinical experiences. The present article attempts to identify the reasons of drug addiction tendency, consumption patterns, models, theories of addiction to substances changing the mood and behavior, various methods of drug treatment, effective methods in drug addiction counseling and non-medical and non-pharmaceutical methods to give up drug addiction by using recent research findings. On this basis, the most effective methods to help those who suffer from alcohol and other drugs abuse and dependency are studied. drug addiction factors theories and models of non-pharmaceutical treatment effective counseling. 2004 5 01 13 54 http://etiadpajohi.ir/article-1-456-en.pdf

Scientific Quarterly Research on Addiction etiadpajohi 2008-4307 2423-6535 10.61186/etiadpajohi 2004 2 6 Studying the relationship between the styles of attachment, drug addiction and psychological profile of addicts in comparison with non-addicts (in self-introduced centers of Bushehr Province) Emphasizing on effective factors in drug dependency and multiple drug relapse, is probably related to formation of personality models. These models are heavily affected by development orientation personality. Various researches show that attachment as a development factor has a decisive role in forming personality models. Hence, in one hand, the present research evaluates the relationship between attachment styles and drug dependency and ,in the other hand, it addresses the relationship between attachment /drug addiction and psychological profile. The statistical community of this research consists of all male referrals to self-introduced centers in Bushehr province in summer 1381. The sample group consists 100 individuals of this community and comparison group cnosists another 100 individuals who had no history of drug abuse. They were controlled by counterpart variables. The tools of this research are MCMI-II and adults’ attachment questionnaire. The satisfaction of validity and reliabilty of research literature are reported. Apllied statistical methods include χ² statistical test and profile analysis. To compare the individual distribution based on attachment style, χ² test is obtained meaningfully in P<0/05 level. Also, the results of profile analysis for evaluating the effect of drug addiction and attachment style on psychological profile is meaningful in P<0/01 level. In summary, the research shows that there is a relationship between attachment style and drug addiction as well as between attachment/addiction and psychological profile. : attachment drugdependency psychological profile 2004 5 01 55 66 http://etiadpajohi.ir/article-1-457-en.pdf

Scientific Quarterly Research on Addiction etiadpajohi 2008-4307 2423-6535 10.61186/etiadpajohi 2004 2 6 A comparison of self-esteem and attribution styles among two groups of addicted and non-addicted adolescents The present research tries to compare self-esteem and attribution styles among two groups of addicted and non-addicted adolescents and their relations. By applying comparative-causal method among 15-18 year-old alodescents in special centers, 50 adolescents were selected. The same number of non- addicts, some of whom had common characterisics as same as the first group, were also selected by using multi-stage cluster method. After gathering and analyzing the information by applying t tests and correlation coefficient as well as examing different assumptions, we achieved the following findings: • Non-addicted individuals have more internal, sustainable and general attributions. • Non-addicted individuals are more self-esteem. • There is a meaningful relationship between different aspects (interior-exterior,sustainable-unsustainable,general-particular, pleasant-unpleasant) of attribution styles in each group. 2004 5 01 67 84 http://etiadpajohi.ir/article-1-458-en.pdf

Scientific Quarterly Research on Addiction etiadpajohi 2008-4307 2423-6535 10.61186/etiadpajohi 2004 2 6 Sensation seeking in opium abusers compared to normal people Recent research shows that it is possible to identify people at risk of substance abuse using some personality variables. Identification of these people might help social planners to deal with these people specifically in their prevention attempts. The aim of this study was to compare the sensation seeking of opium addicted and non-addicted people using the sensation seeking scale. Such a comparison might help to identify personality variables that are effective in turning toward substance abuse. In order to measure the sensation seeking of subjects “Sensation Seeking Scale” (SSS) were used. 31 opium abusers were matched to 31 normal controls according to the following variables: age, education, father and mother education. Results showed that opium abusers obtain higher scores on the total sensation seeking score ,“variety seeking” and “experience seeking” subscales. Scientific Quarterly Research on Addiction etiadpajohi 2008-4307 2423-6535 10.61186/etiadpajohi 2004 2 6 Multidimensional Therapy (Bio, Psycho, Social) of Heroin Abusers The present article is the report of an experimental research consists of a sample of 30 male heroin addicts who have referred to National Drug Addiction Researches in order to receive medical therapy (methadone) in 1382-83. These individuals (23-34 years old) are studied in two test group (15) and control group (15). Different mental therapy methods (group, family, individual) were applied for this sample. In this research, a questionnaire with 79 questions and a few short checklists was used in order to measure individuals' mental/social characteristics via Post-Test and Pre-Test methods. The validity of this questionnaire was calculated 82 percent after two tests. To analyze the data, two methods were applied: quantitative method (dependent/independent descriptive statistics, test statistics and T statistics) and qualitative method (interview, observation, questionnaire). The findings of qualitative method represented in this article, indicate a meaningful difference between these two groups. It also shows that by applying a holistic approach, treatment process is better and faster and relapse possibility is less if it have been following up for at least one year. The samples were randomly distibuted in three 21-member groups including control group, caricature group and documentary movie. All groups were pre-tested by using addiction attitude measuring scale (Form A). Then, the test goups were represented with dependent variables of movie and caricature but the control group received no variable. After two weeks, all groups were post-tesed by using addiction attitude measuring scale (Form B). The assumptions were analyzed by applying correlated t-tests , two-way variance analysis and Tucki’s pursuance test The results indicated that movie and caricature are effective in changing students’ attitudes toward addiction, the effects of movie differed from the effects of caricature but there was no difference between them in changing the attitude of male and female students. documentary movie addiction attitude Tehran’s high school male/female students 2004 5 01 115 142 http://etiadpajohi.ir/article-1-461-en.pdf
