Objective: The objective of this study was the structural relationship between perceived social support and craving in substance-dependent individuals undergoing methadone maintenance treatment: the mediating role of anxiety sensitivity. Method: The method of descriptive-correlation research was structural equation modeling. The statistical population of substance-dependent patients referring to methadone maintenance treatment centers in Khorramabad city, 220 people were selected according to the entry and exit criteria by available sampling method. The research tools included questionnaires of anxiety sensitivity, perceived social support, and craving. In order to analyze the research model, AMOS-24 software was used with the method of structural equation modeling. Results: The findings showed that the perceived social support had a direct and significant effect on the drug addiction of the treatment seekers, and the anxiety sensitivity had a significant mediating role in the relationship between the perceived social support and drug addiction of the treated people. In general, the results showed that the research model had a good fit. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that perceived social support has a negative and direct relationship with drug addiction in methadone maintenance patients, and anxiety sensitivity, as a mediating variable, has a positive relationship with drug addiction.
